F.A.: What was your family reaction when you told them that you decided to be an artist? Did they support you from the beginning or somebody was concerned about your decision?
Rossella: My family has been increadibly supportive throughout this process. They actually encouraged me to break into this industry because they saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself at the time. Talent.
F.A: It is not easy making a living being an artist, in this stage of your career, can you totally support yourself with your artistic work or you have to work in other job(s)?
Rossella: Support can be so loosely defined these days, and I’d like to take the liberty in using that to my advantage right now. So yes, I can say that I can, in fact, support myself working as an actress. Sure, I may eat a shocking amount of canned tuna and PB & J sandwiches, but everyone must struggle in the beginning. It’s dexterity that separates those who are up-and-coming from those who are down-and-going.
F.A.: Are you currently working in a project or a production?
Rossella: I am currently hosting my own web-series cooking show on www.cookingwithnonna.com. On the show Cooking With Nonna, I merge traditional Italian cooking with the new generation by inviting a new Nonna (Grandma) on each show to make the most traditional recipes from her native Italy. We stream a new episode every Monday evening at 8pm showcasing one new recipe and a short Bio of the Nonna. The website also offers a virtual tour of Italy's regions complete with music and stunning photography.
F.A.: What are your immediate and future plans?
Rossella: I plan to follow through with Cooking With Nonna and build it into a brand complete with cookbooks, as well as a possible product line. I also would love to keep pursuing my acting career because it is truly my first love and passion....Who knows??
F.A.: Professionally, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Rossella: Hopefully with an Oscar in my hand. Maybe I'll get really lucky and find one at a garage sale some day. If I don't I would be more than happy to win one the old fashioned way.
F A : Based on your personal experience, what would you advise other young artists that are thinking of undertaking a career as an artist?:
Rossella: Pick something else. Anything else. If you like numbers, I urge you to become a CPA. You’ll have a comfortable life without having to worry about where your next job is coming from, or having to experience rejection on a daily basis, although, if you’re a CPA you may, but in a different way. If there’s even one ounce of quit in you, expect to suffer. You have to love what you do and want success more than oxygen, because it’s a long and difficult path to travel down. If you think you’re ready to sacrifice just about everything for your career, then it will be the most rewarding experience you will ever have.
F.A.: Is there anything else that you would like to share with us?
Rossella: I can say with 100% certainty that I’ve been the best interviewee you’ve had to date.
F.A.: Because, our website has just been launched, we would like to have some feedback from our artists. What do you think about Forum Artistico, and in your opinion, can this project help artists in general?
Rossella: I think Forum Artistico is a great asset to the entertainment industry because it can combine networking and the comfort of technology. In an age where everyone is connected all the time, having a forum of support is vital. The job and audition listings are just the icing on the cake!!
F.A.: Thank you Rossella for you time and good luck with your career.
