Celina Clavijo Kashu, holds a MD in architecture, se became specially interested in Japanese ceramics during her postgraduate studies at the Kyoto Unversity in Japan.
In 1983 she passed the entrance examination to the Kyoto Municipal Research Institute of Traditional Industries for a year of studies mostly centered in glaze formulation. After graduation and 5 years of work, se had to temporarily close her workshop due familiar circumstances, this meant more than ten years during which she concentrated on painting, working specially with the Japanese sumi (black ink) painting techniques, much used for the blue & white ceramic under glaze painting.
Re-opened her ceramic workshop, she decided to renew herself attending the Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani Ceramic Training Institute famous for her over glaze painting three-years curriculum. She graduated in 2005.
At present, she is attending a training course for wheel throwing of Japanese table ware at the Shiga Prefectural Shigaraki Ceramics Training Institute.
She has widely exhibited painting & ceramics, won prizes for her works and written books on ceramic & painting and cooking.
