Maria Riboli: "The Confidence Man" E-mail

They say that in New York there’s a theater in every building…well now we can also say that there’s a theater on a boat...

“The confidence man” is the latest production by the Woodshed Collective.

It was inspired by Herman Melville’s novel, the story of a con man aboard a riverboat in the mid-19th century, who charms and cheats his fellow passengers.

This elaborate production takes place aboard the U.S.C.G. ship Lilac will give the audience the chance to choose which story they want to follow.

You will walk around from room to room, from story to story, following the characters you’re interested in and you will find yourself asking if you’re not part of the story as well.

This is a beautiful production, with a wonderful cast directed by Stephen Brackett, Lauren Keating and Michael Silverstone.

For more info on the show and how to purchase tickets (by the way did I mention it’s free?) go to www.woodshedcollective.com, the show is closing on September 26th2009.

"The Confidence Man" takes place aboard the Lilac, Pier 40, West Houston Street and West Street. Admission is free, but sign-up's required at www.brownpapertickets.com
